- Frozen- always the same, wedding vows, Pledge of Allegiance, Lord’s Prayer.
- Formal- complete sentences and specific word choice, lawyers, and lawmakers
- Consultative- formal English often used to show respect at school. in the work place
- Casual- language between friends, word choice general not specific, not in complete sentences, use of non-verbal assists
- Intimate- language between lovers or twins, sexual harassment
